Library Services

Interlibrary Loans

Patrons of Rockbridge Regional Library System may request and borrow up to two items through interlibrary loan at one time.  Items may include print books, books on CD, DVDs, and microfilm.  The two item limit includes items requested that have not been supplied and items supplied.

Many libraries will not send print books published within one year, or materials in non-print formats such as DVD or audio CD.  If a title is too new to be supplied or is not available through ILL, a purchase suggestion may be submitted for consideration for addition to RRL collections.

Interlibrary loan service is free, however, special borrowing fees, insurance costs, or postage required above U.S.P.S. library mail rate, are the patron’s responsibility.  Patrons will be notified of any fees before ILL fulfillment from a supplier and given the opportunity to accept or deny.

Overdue charges of .50 per day will accrue if items are not returned by the due date.  Replacement cost for lost or damaged items are patron’s responsibility.

An Interlibrary Loan Request form must be completed and must include a signature that the borrower agrees to accept all responsibility for all items borrowed, including replacement if necessary.

To request material through interlibrary loan, visit your nearest branch to complete and sign a request form.
