Library Services

Interlibrary Loans

Patrons of Rockbridge Regional Library System may request books from libraries outside the RRL system.

Many libraries will not send books published within one year, therefore, requests for titles published very recently may not be available. If a title is not available through ILL, patrons may submit a purchase suggestion to RRL.

Interlibrary loan service is free, however, the cost of return postage and insurance are the patrons responsibility. The postage cost will be charged to the borrower, even if the item is not picked up.

Overdue charges will accrue if the items are not returned by the due date.

An Interlibrary Loan Request form must be completed and must include a signature that the borrower agrees to accept all responsibility for all items borrowed, including replacement if necessary.

To request material through interlibrary loan, visit your nearest branch to complete and sign a request form.

Rockbridge Regional Library System provides services to patrons who have difficulty visiting the library in person via our Bookmobile, books by mail, and homebound delivery services.

Patrons who are unable to read standard print materials can take advantage of the Talking Books service! The patron is provided with Digital Talking Book machine to listen to popular titles.

Mobile Hotspots

Rockbridge Regional Library System offers 10 mobile hotspots for checkout.

Patrons 18 and older can checkout one hotspot at a time. Hotspots circulate for 7 days; 1 renewal if no pending holds.

All hotspots are set to the T-Mobile network and have unique passwords. Wi-fi information is listed on device and instruction card located inside case. Mobile hotspots are not filtered. Hotspot users are expected to comply with the RRLS Acceptable Internet Use Policy.

It is the user’s responsibility to use the device consistent with the educational and informational purpose for which it is intended, and not for any unauthorized, unethical, or illegal purposes. Any attempt to alter data on the device is strictly prohibited. Altered data on the device may be considered an act of vandalism and require full replacement cost.

The library reserves the right to withdraw privileges for the checkout of hotspots if the hotspot policy and procedures are not followed.

Hotspots can be returned to any Rockbridge Regional Library System location. Devices must be returned inside the library. Overdue hotspots accrue a fine of $.50 per day and will be deactivated.

Kits include hotspot, charger, and instruction card in carrying case.

Lost hotspots and accessories will be charged as follows:

    • Hotspot Unit Only - $120
    • USB Cable and Plug Only - $10
